Résumé
Zelmira est le dernier opéra qu'a écrit Rossini pour Naples, sachant que ce serait également sa carte de visite pour Vienne où il a assuré quelques concerts. Guidé par l'envie de réconcilier l'incompatibilité entre la mélodie italienne et l'harmonie allemande, Rossini a employé des harmonies audacieuses et passionnantes et un certain nombre d'effets orchestraux éblouissants dans cette tragédie dans laquelle une fille sauve son père, le Roi, et son fils, des usurpateurs du trône. L'opéra fut acclamé partout où il fut joué, et cet enregistrement présente la version révisée et triomphale de Paris.
