MARK VAN HOEN a acquis son premier synthétiseur et enregistreur en 1981, et a immédiatement commence la musique électronique, avec des influences comme BRIAN ENO et CABARET VOLTAIRE. La plupart de ses enregistrements ont été fait à son studio maison, mais d'autres on été réalisé aux stations de radios où il travaillait pendant les années 80. Contemporain d'APHEX TWIN, il a été signé en 1993 sur R&S Records, et a par la suite travaillé avec de nombreux labels dont Touch et 4AD. C'est un compositeur influent et admiré..
