Résumé
Violoniste, chef d’orchestre et compositeur, le belge Eugène Ysaÿe (1858-1931) a été reconnu comme l’un des virtuoses du violon du XIXe siècle et du début du XXe siècle. Considéré comme le « roi du violon » par Nathan Milstein, son héritage a inspiré des générations de musiciens. Ysaÿe éait aussi un véritable compositeur d’avant-garde dont les oeuvres modernes, expressives et d’une originalité harmonique demandaient une technique violonistique révolutionnaire. Il n’est pas faux de dire que finalement il aura été le pont entre l’ère du romantisme tardif et de la musique contemporaine. C’est étrange alors de réaliser à quel point de nombreuses pièces restent inconnues, non publiées ou inédites au disque.Cet album présente des oeuvres pour violon et piano datant de 1885 à 1924 et un Concerto pour violon de 1910 totalement inconnu. Elles sont ici servies pour les doigts de Sherban Lupu, élève de Menuhin, et du jeune français Henri Bonamy, premier prix au CNSM
