Résumé
Double album conceptuel et opéra-rock particulièrement ambitieux, "The Wall" est essentiellement l'oeuvre de Roger Waters, compositeur, arrangeur, bassiste et chanteur, ayant fait appel au producteur Bob Ezrin (Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Kiss, etc) pour enfanter, non sans douleur, ce monstre protéiforme. Autobiographique, "The Wall" symbolise l'isolement émotionnel de Waters qui évoque son père absent, sa mère abusive, et la rigidité d'un système scolaire implacable l'ayant traumatisé à vie. Le héros de ce règlement de comptes, la rock-star Pink, finit par s'imaginer dictateur, son public devient son peuple et la folie meurtrière dans laquelle il sombre s'avère irréversible. À méditer avec vigilance.
