Résumé
Cette série de 5CD éditée en son temps par Teldec fut cher au coeur du compositeur hongrois, au point qu'il s'impliqua dans le processus de l'enregistrement jusqu'à sa disparition en 2006.
Les interprètes eurent une vraie relation avec le compositeur, que ce soit Pierre-Laurent Aimard, l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Berlin ou les ensembles Asko et Schönberg dirigés par Reinbert de Leeuw.
Le texte du livret a été écrit par Ligeti lui-même et il décrit magnifiquement le processus créatif de son oeuvre.
Ce coffret de 5 CD révèle magnifiquement le génie iconoclaste de Ligeti ainsi que son incontestable sens de l'humour musical.
