Résumé
Célébrant ses 20 ans chez Decca, Joseph Calleja présente son tout premier album d'airs sacrés : Ave Maria. C'est aussi l'occasion d'entendre Calleja chanter Wagner pour la première fois avant ses débuts dans le rôle de Parsifal à Bayreuth cet été.Le ténor maltais enregistre aussi pour la première fois avec le Malta Philharmonic et publie juste à temps pour Pâques, cet album qui comprend quatre Ave Maria :- celui de Mascagni d'après l'Intermezzo de l'opéra Cavalleria Rusticana, - l'Ave Maria de Massenet dans un tout nouvel arrangement de la transcription par le compositeur de sa célèbre 'Méditation' de Thaïs, - l'Ave Maria de Schubert dans l'arrangement historique réalisé par Decca pour Pavarotti dans les années 1970,- l'Ave Maria d'Andrea Bocelli qui est le seul autre ténor à l'avoir enregistré.
