Le retour du groupe légendaire Tower of PowerAvec un album marquant son 50e anniversaire, 2018's Soul Side of Town, on pourrait penser que Tower ofPower (ou TOP, comme l'appelle plus souvent sa légion mondiale de fans), prendraient une pause bien méritée.Mais ce n'est pas dans l'ADN du groupe, ni dans celui de son fondateur, le saxophoniste ténor et chef d'orchestreEmilio Castillo. Aujourd'hui, avec leur dernier album disponible en CD et en LP, Step Up, le groupe entame laprochaine décennie en respectant son calendrier de tournées hardcore (200 jours par an !) et en se revigorantconstamment avec l'ajout continu de nouveaux talents, notamment le phénoménal jeune chanteur Marcus Scott.Ce dernier a remplacé le chanteur de longue date de TOP, Ray Greene. Depuis les débuts du groupe jusqu'àStep Up, le son TOP reste fidèle à la vision musicale originale d'Emilio : retranscrire dans un son singulier,émotionnel toute la multidimensionnalité de la musique soul.
