Ces 2 formats proposent l'album original remasterisé par David Glasser d'après les bandes master analogiques combinée à la technologie Plangent Process Speed Correction.
L'édition 2CD enrichie contient par ailleurs 10 titres inédits captés au Fillmore West (San Francisco) en 1971. Célèbre pour sa pochette emblématique conçue par Alton Kelly et Stanley Mouse, ce second Live du Dead surnommé 'Skull & Roses' a été enregistré en mars-avril 1971 à New York et San Francisco. Le quintet historique y délivre de puissants titres Rock 'n'Roll ('Johnny B. Goode,' 'Not Fade Away'), les roboratifs et Bakersfieldiens 'Me & My Uncle', 'Mama Tried', 'Me & Bobby McGee'), sans oublier des incontournables de leur répertoire ('Bertha,' 'Playing In The Band,' 'Wharf Rat').
