Running Wild s'est formé à Hambourg en 1976 et est devenu l'un des groupes de heavy metal les plus importants et les plus influents d'Allemagne. On leur attribue également l'invention du sous-genre désormais célèbre du "Pirate Metal", si populaire aujourd'hui. Le groupe a toujours une fanbase mondiale enragée, ils sont toujours les têtes d'affiche de gigantesques spectacles en salle et les têtes d'affiche de festivals.
