Résumé
Composée à une époque où n'existaient ni oratorio, ni opéra, cette "Rappresentatione" (février 1600) est un drame musical magistral. Thème emblématique de la Contre-Réforme, ce dialogue où s'affrontent l'âme et le corps fait intervenir des chanteurs, des choeurs et un vaste orchestre dont les timbres variés accompagnent les solistes tout en les caractérisant. À l'orée de la révolution baroque, chant, action scénique, danse et musique instrumentale s'y conjuguent en un accord parfait.
