The Magnetic Fields, nom derrière lequel se cache l'auteur-compositeur culte Stephin Merritt, revient avec 'Quickies', nouveau projet sous 2 versions :- une édition composée de cinq EP présentant un total de 28 nouveaux morceaux.- une édition CD.Comme nombre des créations de Merritt, 'Quickies' répond à un concept bien précis : ce nouvel album est principalement inspiré de la passion de Stephin Merritt pour la lecture et l'écriture de nouvelles et de poésie.Pour ces morceaux dont la durée s'étend de 13 secondes à 2 minutes 35, il s'est concentré sur un seul instrument à la fois, accompagnant des textes courts - voir parfois juste quelques mots.À ce jour, le virtuose Stephin Merritt a écrit et enregistré 12 albums sous le nom de Magnetic Fields, dont les très populaires '69 Love Songs' et '50 Song Memoir', largement salués par la critique.
