«POP SONGS» présente l'incroyable talent artistique du violoncelliste Jan Vogler avec le BBC Philharmonic & Omer Meier Wellber.Dans ce programme couvrant une période de près de 500 ans, Jan Vogler a enregistré les pièces vocales les plus belles et populaires de Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Bizet, Mozart en passant par celles des Beatles, Gary Moore, ou encore Micheal Jackson. Pour ce projet spécial, il fait équipe avec le BBC Philharmonic et le chef d'orchestre Omer Meier Wellber. Les pièces ont été spécialement arrangées pour le violoncelle et l'orchestre et les font revivre dans une splendeur inédite. Le BBC Philharmonic met magnifiquement en valeur Jan Vogler, tandis que Omer Meier Wellber joue de l'accordéon dans une version sublime du «Pur ti miro» de Monteverdi. Vogler a choisi les pièces les plus délicieuses d'opéras tels que Dido and Aeneas, Carmen ou La Flûte enchantée. Il n'hésite pas non plus à reprendre des morceaux favoris du 20e siècle comme «Summertime» de Porgy and Bess, «It was a very good year» de Frank Sinatra ou encore «Billie Jean» de Michael Jackson.
