Gene Taylor est un pianiste américain de blues rock et de boogie-woogie. Il a joué aux cotés des grands noms de la scène blues de la west coast comme Big Joe Turner , T-Bone Walker. Mi seventies on le retrouve avec «Canned Heat» et «The Blasters» avec qui il enregistre 4 albums pour WB. De 1993 à 2007 il est avec « The Fabulous Thunderbirds » mais joue également avec Dwight Yoakam, Kim Wilson, Charlie Musselwhite, Amos Garrett, Doug Sahm, Kid Ramos, Junior Watson.. Let Me Ride In Your Automobile, excellent 4ème album solo du pianiste est un album de blues teinté de rock, sorte de cocktail de son travail avec The Blasters et The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
