Pour célébrer le 80ème anniversaire d'Edith Mathis le 11 février 2018, cette édition limitée de 7CD réunit ses plus précieux enregistrements d'airs d'opéras, oratorios et lieder, de 1960 à 1984.
La versatilité de la captivante soprano suisse est illustrée dans ses enregistrements des cantates de Bach et de la Passion selon Saint Matthieu avec Karl Richter, Fidelio, Le Chevalier à la rose et ses célèbres enregistrements de Mozart avec Karl Böhm ; ainsi que dans l'enregistrement légendaire du Freischütz avec Carlos Kleiber, la Damnation de Faust de Berlioz avec Seiji Ozawa, et le rôle qu'elle a créé dans l'opéra Der junge Lord de Henze en 1965. La collection comprend également l'intégrale de ses enregistrements des lieder de Schumann avec Christoph Eschenbach et, pour la première fois en CD et en numérique, une sélection du Livre de chansons italiennes de Wolf avec Karl Engel.
