Thin Lizzy a été fondé à Dublin en 1969 par Phil Lynott et Brian Downey.
En l'espace de 13 ans et pas moins de 12 albums studio le groupe s'impose comme un des fers de lance du renouveau du hard rock anglais.
Ce coffret met en évidence l'incroyable ascension de Thin Lizzy depuis les tout début en trio jusqu'aux heures de gloire avec la tournée de 1981 et le hit The Boys are Back In Town.
Toute la carrière du groupe y est abordée, même le dernier concert de Phil Lynott au festival de Reading de 1983.
La BBC a apporté l'ensemble de ses archives, malheureusement certaines bandes avaient été perdues ou effacées. Les fans ont alors pris le relais pour apporter ce qu'ils avaient enregistré et conservé.
