His supertanker set for The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) was the largest sound stage in the world at the time it was built.Throughout his resplendent career, Sir Ken Adam has kept a very extensive personal archive of rough sketches, concepts, drawings and set photographs, and recently donated the entire archive to the Berlin Filmmuseum. This book will present visually, for the first time ever, a wide selection from the collection, demonstrating the development of his stunning cinematic illusions from initial concept design to what appears on screen. The rich visuals - many of which have never been seen in public before - will be accompanied by an authoritative text from film and design historian Sir Christopher Frayling, who is also Ken Adam's biographer.
