Hommage à la grande pianiste espagnole Alicia de LARROCHA (1923-2009) qui fut l'interprète de référence de la musique de son pays. L'Ibéria d'Albeniz précède de peu celui de Debussy. Messiaen, puis Boulez, le considèrent comme 'une merveille du piano', l'héritier technique de Chopin et de Liszt, mais y admirent encore plus son incroyable équilibre entre luxuriance expressive, l'usage de la gamme par tons chère à Debussy, le recours aux modes antiques et harmonies orientales propres au répertoire des gitans, alors que l'inspiration est toujours liée au flamenco le plus authentique..
