Résumé
Pour son nouvel album ECM intitulé Human, le groupe éblouissant et puissamment organique de Shai Maestro, composé du batteur israélien Ofri Nemheya et du contrebassiste péruvien Jorge Roeder, s'est transformé en quartet avec l'arrivée du trompettiste américain Philip Dizack. La générosité du style de Shai s'associe à merveille avec la vivacité et la rapidité d'esprit dont Dizack fait preuve dans son approche de l'improvisation. Comme d'habitude Maestro dans ce disque envisage la musique sous des aspects résolument modernistes tout en respectant la tradition. Vers la fin d'un programme composé presque entièrement de pièces originales de Maestro explorant une grande variété d'humeurs, le quartet offre sa propre version du grand classique de Duke Ellington "In A Sentimental Mood", tandis que la pièce de Shai intitulée "Hank and Charlie" rend un vibrant hommage à l'empathie musicale partagée par les regrettés Hank Jones et Charlie Haden. Human a été enregistré aux Studios La Buissonne dans le sud de la France en février 2020, sous la direction musicale de Manfred Eicher. édition CD avec fourreau
