Elle a choisi cette fois de mettre à l'honneur Handel, avec des arias d'une technicité extrême qui confirmeront sa position de meilleure soprano baroque de sa génération.
A tout juste 25 ans, et après le succès de son premier album, la jeune soprano Julia Lezhneva enregistre à nouveau chez Decca.
Le programme porte sur les oeuvres religieuses et d'opéra de Handel, écrites lors de son arrivée en Italie au début du 18ème siècle (il est alors âgé de 21 ans), et inclue le célèbre Lascia la spina.
Julia Lezhneva est accompagnée par l'ensemble baroque Il Giardino Armonico dirigé par Giovanni Antonini et Dmitry Sinkovsky sur quelques airs.
L'enregistrement a eu lieu à Cremona dans la belle salle du Museo del Violino pour ajouter à l'authenticité du projet.
