Né en 1953 à Kingston en Jamaïque, Gussie Clarke est devenu dès le début des années 70, un des plus grands
producteurs de Dancehall et de Reggae quand il a lancé les carrières d'artistes comme Big Youth et I Roy. Il a beaucoup
travaillé sur le Label Trojan et dès 1975 il est devenu le leader de la scène Dub. Ses productions de Dennis Brown et
Gregory Isaacs sont devenues cultes. En 1988 il a fondé le Music Works studio et rapidement beaucoup d'artistes se
pressaient à la porte du studio pour enregistrer chez lui comme Shabba Ranks et Maxi Priest.
