Résumé
La carrière de Louis Armstrong a débuté près de 15 ans avant celle d'EllaFitzgerald. Louis fut même l'une des premières idoles musicales d'Ella. Audébut des années 40, Ella était déjà une star reconnue. Bien qu'Ella et Louisse soient probablement déjà rencontrés et qu'ils se soient produitsensemble, ils ne seront pas entendus en duo avant janvier 1946, date àlaquelle ils ont fait la première de quelques sessions Decca. Ces datesn'avaient pas de véritable concept et se limitaient à des airs pop de l'époque.La situation changera radicalement sur les trois disques qu'ils ont réalisésentre 1956 et 1957 pour le label Verve. Ces albums mémorables sont Ella &Louis, sa suite, Ella & Louis Again, et la sélection de morceaux de l'opérafolk Porgy & Bess de George Gershwin.Leurs prises Decca master complètes ont été ajoutées en bonus. Inclus 8 titres bonus.
