Les virtuoses Ilya Gringolts, violon, et Dmitry Kouzov, violoncelle, interprètent trois grand duos - deux du 20ème siècle et un du 21ème siècle. Gringolts et Kouzov forment un superbe duo. Les deux sont très sollicités en tant que solistes et sont de très bons chambristes. Ils jouent avec précision et enthousiasme, quelque soit la difficulté des pièces abordées. Le gracieux, expressif et spirituel Duo pour violon et violoncelle de Hanns Eisler, écrit lorsque le compositeur avait 26 ans, est une oeuvre aux mutiples facettes mettant en valeur l'intellect brillant du compositeur. Dans les 24 Duos pour violon et violoncelle de Jorg Widmann, écrits à partir de 2008, le son des deux instruments se rapproche de celui d'un quatuor à cordes. Ces interprétations sont le premier enregistrement mondial de l'intégrale des 24 Duos de Widmann. L'album se termine avec la superbe Sonate pour violon et violoncelle de Maurice Ravel. Dédiée à Claude Debussy, la sonate est toujours une pièce privilégiée des auditeurs.
