On ne présente plus Richard Thompson . véritable légende de la guitare Folk, il a su, tout au long de sa carrière, créer et développer un style unique et mélodieux, notamment au sein du groupe culte qu'il a fondé en 1967, Fairport Convention.Son univers doit beaucoup à sa jeunesse et à la discothèque de son père, qui comportait les grands noms du Jazz et du Blues de l'époque. De ses origines anglaises, on retrouve sur Dream Attic quelques belles cornemuses et bombardes qui font sonner cet album comme un carnet de voyage savoureux. Dream Attic est un album aux multiples influences : touches celtiques, perles pop très Beatles, ballades attachantes, soli acérés, blues-rock rageurs composent un album capté dans des conditions de concert et devant un auditoire. L'énergie propre aux performances du guitariste est très bien retranscrite et Thompson semble libéré de toute pression de production, donnant le meilleur de lui-même aussi bien vocalement qu'à la guitare.
