Enregistré aux emblématiques FAME Studios de Muscle Shoals, en Alberta, il bénéficie d'un ensemble trié sur le volet de musiciens de session de renommée mondiale, dont Fred Eltringham, connu pour son travail avec Ringo Starr et Sheryl Crow, le pianiste Jim "Moose" Brown, qui a collaboré avec Bob Seger, et le bassiste Seth Kaufman, célèbre pour ses contributions aux morceaux de Lana Del Rey. L'album est à la fois semi-autobiographique et conceptuel, centré sur le personnage évocateur de Coyote, un homme en fuite à la recherche d'une liberté toujours insaisissable par rapport à son passé.
