Élève de Joseph Beuys, il fonde la "Zo diak Free Arts Lab", un club underground et expérimental à Berlin en 1967. Il a aussi été membre de TANGERINE DREAM (avec Klaus Schulze et Edgar Froese) et de KLUSTER (avec Roedelius et Moebius) "Contempora" (1981) est son 5ème album solo et réunit des pièces musicales avec cohérence.
