Maintenant âgé de 70 ans et un siècle et demi après qu'il ait rédigé l'emblématique phrase Hope I die before I get old, Pete Townshend a créé une version classique de l'album phare des Who Quadrophenia pour orchestre symphonique, artistes lyriques et choeur.
La version symphonique de Quadrophenia - un album originellement sorti par le groupe en 1973 - est orchestrée par Rachel Fuller, compositrice, orchestratrice, auteur-compositeur-interprète et également la compagne de Pete Townshend.
La première aura lieu en juillet, au Royal Albert Hall, avec le Royal Philharmonic Orchestra et le choeur du London Oriana.
Classic Quadrophenia a été enregistré en octobre dernier dans les légendaires Air Studios à Londres, sous la direction de Robert Ziegler, avec au chant le célèbre ténor anglais Alfie Boe et Pete Townshend lui-même à la guitare.
