Résumé
Boris Christoff a régné sans partage sur les rôles de basse dans le monde de l'après guerre jusqu'à la fin des années 60. Philippe II, Boris Godounov et Mephisto sans rival, ce fin musicien et grand tragédien n'avait pas la plus grande voix du monde, mais son timbre noir et ses incarnations saisissantes en ont fait la basse à Paris, Londres, New York et Milan durant 20 ans. Ce coffret, au delà des airs d'opéra qui ont fait sa gloire, met en valeur son génie de mélodiste, capable de tonner comme de nuancer à l'infini. Un des très grands artistes lyriques du 20e siècle qui a enregistré l'essentiel de sa discographie pour EMI.
