A l'occasion du 25e anniversaire de la disparition du Maestro du Siècle, Warner Classics a accompli un travail exceptionnel, tant sur le remastering effectué à Abbey Road d'après les bandes originales, que sur l'aspect éditorial, des enregistrements mythiques de Karajan à son catalogue. Réalisés de ses débuts en studio en 1946 jusqu'en 1984, et en grande partie produits par le légendaire Walter Legge, ses enregistrements pour EMI représentent près de la moitié de la discographie de Karajan. Les quelques 100 CD de cette nouvelle édition monumentale seront répartis en 13 élégants coffrets cartonnés du 31 mars au 30 juin.

Les 3 premiers à paraître le 31 mars contiennent les légendaires gravures viennoises de l'immédiat après-guerre (le remastering est ici particulièrement impressionnant), les célèbres Symphonies de Beethoven avec le Philharmonia Orchestra, avec en bonus la version stéréophonique inédite de la 9e Symphonie de Beethoven, et enfin un coffret dédié aux concertos enregistrés avec ses solistes préférés : Lipatti, Gieseking, Brain, et les rares concertos pour piano composés et interprétés par Kurt Leimer...
