Résumé
Nous savons par une anecdote anotée au début du 19ème siècle que Bach a écrit ses deux concerti pour trois clavecins et cordes (BWV 1063-64) dans le dessein de les jouer avec ses deux fils aînés Wilhelm Friedemann et Carl Philipp Emanuel. Selon toute vraisemblance, ces pièces sont nées dans les premières années 1730 quand ses enfants étaient encore sous son toit. Ces deux concertos forment sans aucun doute des arrangements d'originaux perdus avec instruments solistes. Mais contrairement aux concertos pour un seul clavecin (ainsi que deux des concerti pour deux clavecins), aucune source autographe n'a été retrouvée. Ils ne subsistent que dans des copies, dont les premières sont de l'élève de Bach Johann Friedrich Agricola, faites respectivement vers 1740 (Concerto en do majeur BWV 1064) et après 1750 (Concerto en ré mineur BWV 1063).
