Résumé
Ce double album à été enregistré lors d'un concert en plein air le 4 juin 2010 au théâtre Odeon d'Herodes Atticus à Athènes devant un auditoire immense. Le son particulièrement expressif du saxophoniste Charles Lloyd est associé à celui de la voix unique de Maria Farantouri, qui a longtemps été considérée comme la voix de la résistance en Grèce. Les deux artistes qui sont amis depuis quelques années, enregistrent ensemble pour la première fois. Le fabuleux quartet de Lloyd - ici au sommet avec le pianiste Jason Moran particulièrement inspiré - est rejoint par le joueur de lyre Socratis Sinopoulos et par un second pianiste, Takis Frazio. Ce programme est construit comme une suite qui inclut des chansons de Mikis Theodorakis, des musiques traditionnelles grecques, ""Journey to Kythera"" d'Eleni Karaindrou et des thèmes de Charles Lloyd dont le désormais classique ""Dream Weaver"". Le concert d'Athènes est un évènement majeur qui rend ce disque totalement unique.
