Résumé
Pour son nouveau projet – une tentative créative de jeter un pont entre le chant médiéval et la pop oe John Potter a commandé à John Paul Jones (bassiste de Led Zeppelin), Sting et Tony Banks (claviériste de Genesis), des chansons accompagnées au luth.
Ainsi Tony Banks a mis en musique des poèmes du 17e siècle de Thomas Campion (dont nous retrouvons également quelques oeuvres originales), tandis que John Paul Jones s'est attaqué à des poèmes de trois grandes époques de la littérature espagnole.
La composition de Sting Bury me deep in the Greenwood était à l'origine écrite pour le film Robin Hood.
L'album comprend également des chansons d'Ernest John Moeran et Peter Warlock (compositeurs anglais du 20e siècle), ainsi que la seule pièce connue du compositeur Picforth (compositeur de la Renaissance), Amores Pasados créant ainsi des rencontres inédites entre l'ancien et le nouveau.
L'arrangement des chansons a été établi au cours des sessions d'enregistrement au Rainbow Studio à Oslo en novembre 2014, avec les luthistes Ariel Abramovich et Jacob Heringman.
