Résumé
Le premier album de Carolina Katún accompagnée de TeolChanteuse d'origine suisso-mexicaine, Carolina Katún et son groupe TEOL distillent une musique minimale,fraîche et métissée à travers laquelle fusionnent jazz, musiques latino-américaines et autres (baroque, folk,musiques improvisées...). A l'écoute de sa voix, de nombreuses influences évoquent tour à tour, la profondeurvocale de Mercedes Sosa, l'originalité de la chanteuse Lila Downs, le minimalisme de Simon Diaz, le lyrismed'Ella Fitzgerald et le penchant expérimental de Sidsel Endresen. Son projet TEOL, né fin 2015, se développeavec trois figures du jazz hexagonal: le contrebassiste Nicolas Moreaux, le guitariste Pierre Perchaud et lepercussionniste Arthur Alard. Ces musiciens résidant à Paris rendent possible ce projet de métisser les musiqueslatino-américaines, jazz, baroque, folk, improvisées... avec l'objectif de trouver un son de groupe nouveau,unique en son genre. Le répertoire de '"Al Silencio" est composé d'indétournables morceaux latino-américainscomme la ranchera mexicana "La llorona", et d'autres moins connus, comme "Le tengo al silencio" d'AthahalpaYupanqui. Le groupe s'ouvre également à d'autres horizons comme la pop et la musique baroque via des piècesde Robert Wyatt ou Purcell.
