Günter Wand a été l'un des derniers grands chefs romantiques et symphonistes, si ce n'est le dernier, revenant sans cesse sur les grands compositeurs allemands à la tête de différentes formations orchestrales prestigieuses, et marquant un peu plus à chaque fois la discographie de ces oeuvres. les Symphonies de Bruckner n'ont été abordées par Wand qu'après 60 ans et il est très peu sorti de ce répertoire dès lors. Avec Cologne, il signe sa première intégrale de ce cycle - incontournable !
