Le Jazz au féminin ! Lorsque l’on observe l'histoire du jazz, elle semble être majoritairement masculine. Bien sûr, il y a toujours eu des chanteuses de jazz très proéminentes, mais les instrumentistes et compositrices comme Jutta Hipp, Carla Bley ou Geri Allen sont rares. Aujourd'hui, les femmes sont de plus en plus présentes et visibles, et l'album "Sisters in Jazz" en est la preuve positive. Le jazz est aussi féminin. Cette courte phrase décrit très bien le nouvel album de Caecilie Norby. Pour cet album studio, la chanteuse danoise est accompagnée par des musiciennes de grande envergure : Rita Marcotulli (piano), Nicole Johänntgen (saxophone), HildegunnØiseth (trompette), Lisa Wulff (contrebasse) et Dorota Piotrowska (batterie). Toutes les compositions ont été écrites par des femmes, des pionnières du jazz telles que Betty Carter, Abbey Lincoln, Nina Simone ou la reine des auteurs-compositeurs-interprètes, Joni Mitchell. En plus de celles-ci, deux chansons ont étécomposées par Caecilia Norby et une par Rita Marcotulli.
