Des hauteurs de l'Atlas aux dunes du Sahara, la musique berbère rassemble cette population
d'Afrique du Nord si composite, éparpillée sur un vaste territoire. Avec poésie et sensibilité, les
Berbères chantent pour célébrer un mariage ou une naissance, rythmer le travail des champs,
jouer avec les enfants, exprimer leur amour ou leur peine.
Les chansons, comptines et berceuses sélectionnées ici ont été recueillies en partie dans des villages
berbères du moyen atlas, du Sud-Est marocain et du Souss, ainsi qu'en région parisienne,
auprès d'interprètes nés en Algérie, principalement en Kabylie. Le cd regroupe des voix
d'adultes et d'enfants enregistrées dans les palmeraies et montagnes marocaines, mais aussi
des chanteurs et des musiciens professionnels comme Rachid Brahim-Djelloul, Mucat ou
Milena Kartowski.
